In the basement

We can officially (and finally) say that we are completely moved into the Y's basement.  It only took about 1,273 trips from our apartment to the Y's, or our apartment to the storage unit.  I can state with full confidence that it is easier to move across the country (Denver:Texas:Arkansas back in October) than across town.  In October, my dad drove up to Colorado with his truck and trailer.  We loaded all of our possessions up in one day, and the next day headed to Texas.  Originally, the plan was to have a good place to stop, even though Texas is a little out of the way.  Plus, there was some furniture that my parents were holding onto for me since we didn't have room in our apartment in Denver.  But when we had the fiasco with the trailer tire, I was more than glad that we could spend the night at home after a stressful day on the road.  The next morning, we had the tire situation checked out, and 10 hours later arrived in Arkansas to our (old) new home.

On the other hand, we decided to move into the Y's basement at the end of February.  Since the basement wasn't currently occupied, they said we could start bringing our stuff over whenever.  We had until the end of March to get everything moved over so we weren't in too big of a hurry.  However, a few days before I left for Texas, we realized that those few days were really going to be all we had to get most of our stuff moved since I was going to be gone for 10 days and Devin was going to be busy with Spring Sing visitors at work.  When I left Searcy for my trip, we had some things in storage, some things at the Y's, and all the necessary things at our apartment where Devin was.  When I got back from my parent's house, some friends helped us move all the big furniture over and then me and my passat made multiple trips back and forth with the last of it.

Whew.  That's exhausting just to type.  And probably boring, too.  Cudos to you if you are still reading.

All that to say we are adjusting to this new living arrangement and are really starting to enjoy it.  It may not be the "cool" thing for couples our age, but it is where we need to be right now.  The Y's are a sweet, fun family who have opened up their home to us and we are so grateful!
