Relay for Life

Our lives have had so many big changes over the last year.  College graduation, moving away, getting "big kid" jobs, getting married, and losing some very important people in our lives.  Because of these losses, you could say that our priorities have changed and we are daily reminded of what is truly important in this life.  We have become passionate in helping to find cures for the diseases that our loved ones battled, specifically Alzheimer's disease and Pancreatic cancer.  This is why we decided to create a team to participate in the Relay for Life in Westminster on August 3rd.

The Relay for Life is an overnight event (PLEASE don't tune me out yet) starting at 6pm and going until 6am the following morning.  It is NOT a race, nor is there any running involved.  I repeat, no running involved.  The goal is to have at least one person from each team walking on the track at all times.  Each team will have a designated area to set up a place for the team to hang out while they are resting (a campsite, if you will).  During the night, there will be food, games, and activities to provide entertainment.  There will even be themed laps!  For example, the 10pm hour is the "dress up as your favorite superhero" theme.  Mostly importantly, there will be ceremonies during the relay to honor survivors and to remember those who lost the battle from cancer.

Currently, we are trying to raise $1500 as a team for cancer research, simply by asking for donations.  Because we just created the team, we have a lot to get done in the next month and a half!  If you would like to join the team to walk (even for just a few hours-you don't have to stay all night), that would be wonderful.  All you have to do is click here and it will take you to our team website.  Then just click on join our team.  If you aren't able to join us, we would love your prayers and monetary support.  You can do so by going to the link above and selecting the donate to our team option.  You can also choose to decorate a luminaria for $10 to honor a loved one that has had or currently is battling cancer.  It will be displayed around the track and lit up when the sun goes down.  You can also do this online at the relay website, or you can see me or Devin and grab the luminaria to decorate.  We will collect them all a few days before the relay so they can be set out for the event.

If you have any questions what-so-ever, please comment or message me!  We would love for you to join us and we thank you for your help and prayers!
